“I love your video. This has been the best purchase in watercolour info and supplies I have made. I have learned more from your video than I have from taking a couple of painting courses. I have watched it numerous times and learn something new each time. I have gained much confidence and freedom from watching the techniques and trying out the different ways of manipulating the paint. My fear of making a mistake and ending up with a useless piece of ‘coloured’ paper has all but disappeared………what fun! Your video was exactly what I needed to open up the path to creative freedom in watercolour. Again – Thank you so much!” –Karen W.

“I have watched your video and I love it – I am working through the art projects as described in the video and having such fun. I can’t believe the number and variety of techniques that you show. I find it easy & relaxing to do a couple in an evening. Your video is truly an inspiration and I’m feeling very successful with the results. I’m busting loose with these little projects …and loving the experience. Many thanks.” –Marie

“My daughter has your  video and we’ve enjoyed it so much I decided we need to paint together more often! I’ve learned so much from your video  and it inspired me to get painting!” –Lynda

“I have just bought your video and love, love, love it! I have always been intimidated by large sheets of paper and the fear of wasting supplies so your approach is perfect for me. I might actually learn how to loosen up a bit! Thanks so much for the inspiration.” — Patty

“I watched your video today. I love the freedom and ‘play’ of your work!” –Margaret

“Karin, I have watched your video over & over again…it’s taught me so much and I am loving all the techniques you’ve incorporated into your teaching. Finding new ways to use my discarded wine corks (seem to have so many of ’em 🙂 carving fun lift outs into the ends, and am anxious to keep working with these mini treasures. With much appreciation!” –Joy J.

Karin had several nice techniques for watercolor and her small pictures are a stressless way to try out those techniques without “wasting paper”. I wish she had explained a little how she framed the ones she loved as was shown at the beginning of the video with people admiring her framed work at an opening (I guess). One comment about artistsnetworktv videos in general, is I have not figured out how to easily go back or jump ahead for a few minutes at a time if I want to quickly review what was just said/shown or skip over some of the video. I wish there was a 15 second rewind or fast forward. It’s a frustrating little annoyance. Thanks.

great

Fun way to learn color mixing and the many ways colors work with or against each other.

thank you so much for your video ... I'm just learning to play with the watercolors and your little sessions helped me feel a lot more comfortable with play (to learn)

I really enjoyed this video thoroughly. It was fascinating to watch Karin work, and very motivating. I love the idea of showing lots of little works -- it makes learning about a medium seem so approachable -- doable. What an amazing imagination Karin has!

  Sharon  6/14/2017
Karin is a very engaging instructor with her quiet, gentle voice and her understated silliness! I would recommend her to anyone who is just starting out. Having tiny pieces of paper to work with rather than a large sheet of blank paper makes it much easier to create. Those large white sheets can be quite intimidating! My only complaint per se is that I got tired of the number of trees, mountains and moons used in the paintings. This did seem a bit tedious to me. However, this does not detract from the course content or the knowledge and enthusiasm the instructor has for her subject. Thank you, Karin, for permission to play and create!

  Karen  5/21/2017
Loved it! Can't wait to "play" with some of these clever ideas....!

  Linda  5/10/2017

Karin is FABULOUS and love her humour! I am about to challenge watercolor again and will use her little paintings to try out all the techniques she has offered to demonstrate so effectively.

  Liz  11/20/2016
This was totally amazing - watercolour was the medium that i was so fearful of. I will be experimenting with these techniques for sure. A super introduction to this medium. Many thanks i enjoyed your demonstration so much.,

Fantastic little warm-ups and technique builders. Karin Huehold is a great teacher, funny and approachable. Too many art teachers get to a certain point and become very precious about themselves and their work ... which doesn't lead to a good state of mind creatively. Really nice video, I will watch it again.

Excellent video. Karin is delightful! Watercolour doesn't seem quite so intimidating anymore. Very excited to try these techniques and to take a class with her in person.

  Candy  2/21/2015
Loved her sense of humor and could sense through out the video that she loves what she does. Many great techniques that I am looking forward to trying.

  Martie  2/21/2015
I wasn't able to get away on my February vacation, so I hunkered down with my watercolor supplies and followed along with this video. After two days of painting moonscapes and birch trees, I realized that time had flown, and I ended up with several interesting small pieces. Thank you so much, Karin, for this gem of a video. I had a great vacation after all!

  Anne  2/14/2015
Such a fun way to play with watercolor and experiment with different techniques! Work small is wonderful and rewarding. Karin's whimsical no stress way of teaching is great and I now LOVE the dagger brush! Thank you Karin!

  Donna  1/31/2015
This is one of the best video's I've ever viewed, so much information and inspiration, the only criticism I have and it is not a big one, is that I wish when she was dropping in colors she'd say which ones she used. I know in the beginning of the video she goes over her palette and shows each color on ,but I am a very visual person and would like to have known. I have watched this video over and over and each time I view it I learn something new, she is a great teacher and her techniques are amazing, love, love love! This video is for beginners and seasoned watercolorists alike, small paintings that pack a big punch.

  MaryAnna  1/21/2015
Love this woman! One of the best 'classes' I have taken online OR in person! Such humor and love, love her personality and ease. Gave me inspiration and I immediately began to collect all the necessary tools to execute these little works of art. More please!

  Jen  1/18/2015
Looked at my watch, and as Karin said, "Where did the time go?" Loved this video and feel inspired to get out the bone folder, a sheet of watercolour paper and my paints. Oh, the things to try! Thanks, Karin!

  Luther  1/3/2015
Great workshop! Very nicely done. I liked her sense of humor also.

  Philip  12/28/2014
I am also new to watercolor. Transitioning from Acrylics. I'm used to painting on much larger surfaces, so this looks fascinating. While watching the video I started to formulize a plan to make next years Christmas cards. Since this is 12/29, I have a full year to work on these technics and at the same time work on my cards. I ought to be up to speed by next Christmas.

  Sheila  12/20/2014
This was the second time that I watched this video. The only time I have rated or voiced my opinion. Karin did a very good job teaching her unique tiny painting style, and handled all the many colors she used quite well. I plan on trying her tiny painting style and tecniques. Now however I must tackle the making of this video. Will someone please tell why they actually thought that it was a good thing to allow those horrid colors and patterns to overtake this hard working artist. Even if the artist chose the background the video company should have the guts to say this does not work and been able to come up with a more professional background. It does represent them just as the painting represents the artist. Her clothing clashed atrociously with what was behind her and every time the camera panned up to her my eyes and head hurt from the visual whiplash. I believe because of this if she spent money on the making of this video she overpaid and a refund is due. Also a new song in the beginning would be wise as this song has been overused by this company. Content was good but sadly the bad choice of an ugly busy background caused this video to take a beating.

  Marolyn  11/6/2014
Karin provides a treasure trove of technique and concepts in a really fun do-able fashion. Her video spans the skills from beginner to the more advanced artist who wants some inspiration. I'll be watching the workshop numerous times and I'll bet you will too. Thank you Karin!

  Marina  11/1/2014
I did too. Vast of info, fun, interesting, exciting doable projects. Please post more videos. Thanks Karin Huehold.

  Debera  10/24/2014
Loved this video. I'm new to watercolor and painting in general. Karin gave me so many ideas and made this medium seem less intimidating. After watching only a few minutes, I was up and painting. Will watch this again and again. Thanks, Karin

  Swati  10/24/2014
I just finished watching this video and felt that I just had to write and say thank you, Karin for your generosity for sharing so many fun techniques to keep the creative juices flowing. Even though Karin emphasized the fun aspect (and it was very motivating), doing these exercises on a regular basis will, I suspect, unlock many aspects of our creativity that probably still lie locked within us. I also think we will begin to notice a difference in our "regular" larger paintings. However, these small pieces are also "real" paintings! Some of the effects are quite breathtaking. I will now go and prepare the paper and watch this video from the beginning as I follow each technique. I am, as you suggest, looking for that voice that says "what if" as I begin to make my own departures. And then if I find that I forgot to have lunch, well what a fun way to lose a few unwanted pounds too! :-) Thank you, Karin. I hope you will make more videos!

  Rhonda  10/22/2014
I really enjoyed this video....lots of good techniques and very clear explanations. Karin is a very good teacher...sometimes folks can show you something, but are not able to "teach" or explain....Karin handles both very well. Also like her dry sense of humor ;} I think using the dagger brush is a very key point here in doing the mini landscapes...it is a great tool for keeping things loose, but also can be "exact" when you need it to be. I believe these exercises will become a daily practice for me...already doing them....and feel they will be instructive, inspiring, and fun....very useful when you don't have a project underway and feel a bit confused with that devilish "what to paint' question....just keeping a paint brush in your hand is always a good thing! Thanks a lot, Karin!

  Wendy  10/19/2014
I loved this video and all the inspiring techniques that were shared. Thanks!

  Judy  10/18/2014
I learned so much from this video. Thank you so much. Permission to PLAY!

  Hajra  10/17/2014
I really liked this. She shows a large variety of techniques and lovely little pieces, that though simple and small, they look elegant, creative, fun, and are inspiring. I think if anyone wanted to use this, whether they were a hobbyist, professional, or somewhere in between, they'd find it an enjoyable and instructive video. This reiterates that simple doesn't have to mean that one's work is awkward or makes poor use of a medium like watercolor-- a great alternative to the lacking Gina Rossi Armfield art journal videos.

  Terrie  10/9/2014
Wowee! What a fun video! Karin gives such interesting ideas and fun techniques. I REALLY enjoyed this video and needed the reminder to play more and loosen up, so it's easy to do if you're using small pieces of paper. Thanks, Karin!!

    10/5/2014
A perfect way to get back into creating - especially when 'painter's block' strikes! Thanks Karin.

  Knowle  10/4/2014
A delight, watching the various techniques helps me understand what various instructional books are trying to demonstrate.

  Corinne  9/28/2014
Love this! The demos are clear and the techniques are a lot of fun. My favorites are the landscapes.

  Pam  9/28/2014
Totally enjoyed this video. I feel that doing these little paintings will greatly enhance my creativity and my ability to paint in a looser manner.

  Toni  9/24/2014
Wonderful ideas for when you want to paint but don't have a project in mind.

  Joyce  9/13/2014
excellent tutorial I immediately ordered a Bone Folder and a Dagger brush but could not find the refillable pen you were using.

  Judith  9/12/2014
Love this video. It was fun watching this very talented artist. These little lessons are wonderful tools to sharpen your painting skills and have lots of fun doing it. Love the moon lifting, and the paper folding ideas she shares. I hope we see more of this very fun and entertaining artist.

  Mary  9/10/2014
A great video to help you experiment with simple techniques to loosen up and get your creative juices flowing. The emphasis is on having fun and experimentation. She shows you how to "salvage" techniques ; she is very spontaneous and doesn't hesitate to include (and rework) some of her less successful paintings, and also to just throw them away with a shrug if necessary. I liked the short end video showing how to cut paper using a bone folder.

  Judy  9/10/2014
This is a wonderful video and there was a lot that I learned from it. Great paintings and fun

  Karen  9/8/2014
Very good video lessons on painting mini landscapes. A good way to start painting landscapes, not as much waste of paper. This is also good for more experienced painters for different looks. She has a whimsical way about her that is refreshing. I thought watching a 2 hour video was going to be too much but I enjoyed it very much and the time flew by.

  Judi  9/7/2014
Fun, stimulating and great free thinking inspiration mingled with simple techniques that can take you from beginner to infinite places!!!! Little paintings filled with enormous ideas and possibilities! Thank you for the enjoyable experience.

  DEBORAH  9/7/2014
Wonderful and relaxing. Guaranteed fun.

  Brenda  9/7/2014
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire video. I immediately cut down some paper and started my little watercolor paintings. The technique lessons were clear and fun to watch. I particularly enjoyed seeing all the different samples that accompanied each lesson. Thank you for such a fun video on painting with watercolors.

  Christine  9/7/2014
Wow! This was so much fun to watch and so inspirational. Since I'm just starting out I'm looking for ways to think openly about what's possible with this medium and this tutorial is probably the best thing I could have found. Karin Huehold is fun to watch - her joy creating really artful work is contagious. I went out to purchase a few little things that she used that would be helpful (nothing expensive) as soon as the tutorial was over. She provides the same advice a good photographer friend provided years ago - do a lot of work, don't be afraid of creating something that doesn't turn out the way you expected. There are lots of happy accidents in watercolor in equal measure to the planned fun. Thank you for this great video - it was time well spent and I'll be using it as a reference during my experiments!

  Peggy  9/6/2014
I'm new to watercolor and this was an excellent illustration of multiple techniques in bite-sized pieces. Should have taken notes and will watch it again and do just that. Thanks for all of the inspiring ideas.

  Phyllis  9/6/2014
Karin Huehold is a real master, full of love for the love of watercolor! Everyone wants to paint agin! Bravo for the master.. Thank you all for having her in our life.. Cheers, Phyllis

  Ty  9/6/2014
Excellent video.....a lot of techniques shown....interesting.......shared lots of information....she has a great personality for teaching!

  Reba  9/6/2014
Lots of techniques for fun little explorations. Grest technique for tearing deckled edges in last couple of minutes.

  Hety  9/5/2014
I will watch this video again and again. What wonderful ideas, not only for getting started but creating fabulous art. Karin, thank you so much!

  MARY  9/4/2014
I loved everything about this video. I hope to see more from this artist. She is truly inspirational and a pleasure to watch. I cannot wait to try her techniques.
