  1. Now, after a few drawings where we have drawn clouds, I can’t help but looks a clouds in nature without seeing the details of the lights, darks, and edges 🙂

  2. It was great subject to get my charcoals back out and my drawing brain. This past semester I took two painting classes, so trying to join a live or even draw with the video was a struggle, so I took a break. I really enjoyed this one and realized that my approach to drawing has changed. I found myself trying to perfect the sky and spent most of my time working on it. But in the end decided to just leave it be.

  3. Thank you Scott for selecting such a wonderful subject! It brought memories from traveling through Poland. Experimented with the sky, using powder like charcoal pencil’s shavings, spread with tissue paper. Did not work too well; powder got pressed too much into grooves of the paper, and it was hard to create white clouds. I will darken some portion of the sky after a few days. Anyway, I am posting it now. I love drawing with charcoal! 11.5×15.5, Strathmore, 500 series, 100% cotton, laid finish charcoal paper.

  4. Thank you again Scott. Great fun. Used the Clairefontaine multi-techniques 115 lb 5.8 x 8.3 in paper. It has a nice texture, and did release the vine charcoal a lot more than previous papers used, so was glad I experimented with it, as was not happy with previous results using charcoal. As you say, this is a learning process, and I have more appreciation for vine charcoal after today. Many thanks… see you next week!
