!! GREAT
Here’s my girl… I had a tough time with her! I love portraits but Kids are hard. I had to leave it alone for several days, then finished today. It’s not bad but It doesn’t really look like the girl in the photo, unfortunately. Any feedback , Scott, would be welcome!
Well it is just more fun to do my own pictures for the girls!
Hi!Here is my Girl’s portrait!
Wonderful work here, Vickie!
Wonderful! There’s a beautiful expression of volume and form here., and you capture the expression well. Aren’t those “bubaboos” fun?!
Wonderful work here, Steven!
Very nice work! I’ll look into a pastel demo!
This looks great! You’ve drawn all 91?! That’s amazing!
Nice work, Chrisha. I love your value control here. You might continue to work on the eyes, breaking up the dark contour lines a bit, particularly along the lower eyelid. Also, try darkening the underside of the nose a bit to create more volume there. The lips, cheeks, and hair look great!
This looks great! It looks like your image posted
Wonderful work here, Claude!
This is great, Brenda! I love the soft light in this!
This is wonderful, Pia!
Great job here, Monica!
I’m late on getting this up. Over all I’m pleased with this except for the eyes.
Dear Scott,
unfortunately I did not have the required material yet. Therefore I had to make this sketch with graphite pencils and on white paper. The sketch is not finished yet. Many places don’t satisfy me yet.
Kind regards Pia (Switzerland)
Wow these are all great portraits. Everyone has such a unique technique. I have started twice once on charcoal paper and then went to the grey Strathmore. Inspired to complete. I do love portraits.
Well done Brenda. There are very fine drawings in this week! You seem to have nailed it! You DO have a knack with portraits!
Thank you for sharing. May I ask how you do your softening?
Portraits are my very favorite kind of drawing! Thank you, Scott for the opportunity. Loved the challenge and I’m happy with the results. Cheap #2 pencil on white 5.5 x 5.8″ paper.
Great Scott. So Jon Gnagy taught me lines a long time ago. But i would have preferred your teachings… Never too late to learn. Pretty minimal tools used. I will have to start a new pencil though…. I don’t think there is another week left in it! Thank you so much … I am improving every week!
How do you upload a drawing? I clicked o the little box above the note about the the maximum size and I choose a picture but nothing happens
I think she looks good. I think my girl looks older on my drawing.
Hi Scott,
I tired my best to draw the girl.Does it look lije ghost? Please give me feedback on my drawing and improvement. Thank you.

Happy it looks like a female, I am not sure it looks like a girl. Love this series. I have now drawn all 91 and I have started from the beginning and am up to #15. I think I am still having trouble with shading. Only my Strathmore Toned Gray paper drawing have shading I am happy with.
Here is my girl on Strathmore Toned Gray paper, medium surface, 9×12, vine charcoal, charcoal pencils, and white charcoal pencil. It was enjoyable exercise. Looks like I drew another girl, not the one from reference photo, but at least looks like a girl. I did not measure size well enough and run short of paper on the top. Overall I am satisfied.
Scott, you mentioned today that you use soft pastels to create art. Would you consider one day to use that medium. I also use soft pastels for drawing / painting. It might be interesting session.
Looking forward to next drawing on perspective.
Really liked today’s session. I feel this is one of my better portraits. Thank you for sharing your knowledge Scott.
The chin on mine is wacky as was the chin on my self portrait from a few months ago. Scott said we can learn what our bubaboos are: I guess mine is chins!
I love doing portraits!
Children are a challenge!
Thanks,Scott
