Thanks for a great lesson. 🙂
Loved this kitten exercise. The negative space method made this kitty look particularly soft and fluffy!
I started this one on time with the lesson, but didn’t get to watch it or finish that day, and had to work on it way later. I used toned paper and my new tinted charcoal for the first time, which was really fun! I didn’t get the legs quite right…didn’t pay enough attention until the end . I got so wrapped up in its sweet little face! Loved the subject!
This class is so helpful for creating a regular drawing practice–I don’t have much spare time, but your Drawing Together has kept me sane during these months. So, thank you, and I’ll keep posting what I’m able to finish, even if a bit late.
You pulled this together beautifully!
This looks great! I’m glad you’re enjoying the series!
Nice work! I love the subtlety!
I fought with this cat so much.
I lighten the original photo and printed it out to help with the proportions and detail.
Scott-I look forward to every drawing session. And it is fun to see so many kitties!
Second attempt
Thank you for the pencil information! I forgot to mentioned that it was me who asked you a question about the “halo effect” expression you use often. I did not discover your live stream until summer of 2020. Jumped on the bandwagon probably with drawing arm, and feet.
Your comments on getting over the “ugly duckling “ stage are reassuring. Early on this was looking like a person.
On your question do you draw along or watch and draw later. I always draw along and really enjoy it.
I’m proud of this one!
Very nice! Getting the proportions correct sure can be a challenge, but I think you worked through it well. Nice job!
Beautiful work here! I’m glad the erasing technique made sense. It looks great in your drawing!
This looks good! Thanks for sharing!
This looks great! Nice use of shape vs line to define the form.
Beautiful drawing here! Great texture!
Great job with this! I love the mark-making. I used an Ebony pencil for the bulk of the drawing, then a Cretacolor Nero pencil for the darker values.
Very nice work here! Thank you for the comments and for sharing your work!
Very nice, Vickie! Wonderful mark making!
Very nice work with this. Thanks for watching and sharing your work!
Thanks, Brenda! This looks great. Wonderful soft texture!
Great job with this! I used an Ebony pencil for my drawing.
Welcome, Sue! This looks great! Thanks for joining the community and sharing your work here.
Nice work with this! It’s a tough one. I like your use of toned paper!
Here’s mine. Looks like Folk Art! LOL
This is my first time viewing your class. It was very helpful. I’m looking forward to upcoming videos.
I went back to it. I have trouble with proportions
This was difficult. I wonder what kind of pencil you used.
Since the connection was very poor, I was forced to draw from the image rather than following your lead and I’m not too unhappy with the result 🙂 Keep ’em coming, Scott! You rock 🙂
Because my email does not include my first name, let me introduce myself, I am Urszula, living on the east cost of USA. I am very familiar with your state of CO. My daughter was living there in Denver, Grand Junction, and Fruta. Of course I visited her often when there was no Covid 19 and all the travel restrictions. Colorado is a beautiful state. I just posted the drawing of the Skull II, and decided to add some explanation who I am.
Drawing this kitty was a challenge but thank you Scott for your teaching and making the hardest of subjects fun!
Learned a lot on this one!
Thanks for another wonderful session!

Scott I love the subtlety you put in your drawings…I’m still heavy handed but learning a lot from drawing along with you. Thank you
Hello Scott, very enjoyable session as usual. Here is my drawing from today live session. I was able this time to complete the drawing as you were drawing. After the session I just added some marks on the left of the kitten. I am not sure why, but this time I could not download the reference photo, and had to work from the screen of my computer. I did not catch the name of the other pencil you used for darkening. Would you mind to share its brand please?
Scott, thank you for your instruction. The Kitty was hard to get along with.
I really enjoyed this session . My first drawing of a kitten .
My kitten
Thanks again. I truly enjoy these sessions.
Live cats but can’t have on. I used erasure instead of white charcoal pencil for details. Using your advice of using the eraser as a tool. Loving this series!
I was drawing at the same time.
The spacing between the ears looks shorter in the photo.

This looks difficult.
