Here is the puffin!
This is great!
I drew the puffin today and wow. It ended up so different than what I thought when I first started. I don’t think I’ve ever drawn anything that looks like this before. It’s vine charcoal, charcoal pencil, colored charcoal pencil and colored pencil. The beak is a little overworked but I don’t care. Once I added color it changed everything.
Finally posting!
Takes me a long time to get the initial shape down. Trying hard to make anything too uniform. Thanks for another great learning session!
I am puffin right along. Finally close to finished.
Love having a subject to draw that I don’t choose and listening to your excellent video. I was going to add white charcoal to this, but didn’t really know how without it becoming chalky and grey.
I like to see other people’s drawings to see how they have interpreted the same subject. Really helps to see where I might do better.
This one was a challenge! Beak’s too big, I think. I have trouble getting darker, richer tones with graphic without bearing down and making it shiny.
Had a lot of fun doing this and I rechheived a full approval from my 2 year old grandson. Thanks Scott for another great class.
Hi! Here is mine so far.
This looks great, Lynn! The texture looks great. My only suggestion is to continue working the background to make it smoother, especially at the edges of the puffin. Try using soft, circular marks and build it up with more light layers to see if that helps.
Hi Urszula! Nice work. This looks great!
I love the use of color here! Nice!
I’m glad to hear it. This looks great!
Beautiful work here!
Challenging but awesome! Thank you, Scott!
Great subject. Fun to draw.
Great session Scott. Enjoying your relaxed attitude and your help through all the pointers you give along the process of creating. Helped a lot with the eye. Looking forward to next week.
Here is another puffin.

I could not resist adding colored pencil to the mix. His beak was so beautiful. It was fun. Thanks Scott

Hi Scott,
Here is my puffin. It was interesting subject to draw. I would never select it myself. Thank you!
Great lesson as always. I had fun but found getting the proportions correct was a challenge for me. I think the bill is too long. I had difficulty with using your technique for making feathers. My best animal drawing so far. Thank you!
Thanks Scott!
I’m always proud of my work because I enjoyed doing it. This is my drawing in today’s class. Scott please give me comment/suggestions in order for me to improve my drawing. Thanks
Thank you! I’ve fixed it now:)
Hey, Scott, i clicked “reference image” and got a cute chipmonk pic !
