There is an exciting new competition at ArtistsNetwork.com! The “Best In Show” competition sponsored by Jerry’s Artarama, is open to all artists. For each entry, A portion of each entry will be donated to a nonprofit animal welfare organization, the Dumb Friends League. To help prepare for the competition, I’m working on a series of pet portraits. This second episode in the series will be a portrait of a tabby cat! Finally, I have finished the cat drawing on Legion, 11×14 inches white paper, Derwent pencils. Interesting session Scott! Thank you!
Here’s my Tabby finally. I had it 3/4 done during the lesson and finished later. It’s funny how my brain wants to straighten things out so I kept tilting my head the same way as the cat to draw it!! Lol!!

Loved drawing this one, thanks Scott. I’m not finished yet but what a great subject!
Pen and ink on 60# drawing paper.
Pretty happy with his face and paw. Feel like the top of the head and the shoulder blade behind are not quite right. I didn’t spend time on the body but wanted to get that face, paw and texture of the wood.
My sad cat. I should have put more effort in.
Now she’s here:
Thanks for the class, Scott. Here’s my version of a tabby cat ready to take a nap…
Thanks for the classes. I’m rusty and this was hard one but I’m still enjoying it. Hoping for less rust over time!
Here’s my Tabby Cat.
This was my first class with you, it was great and went by so quickly! I just bought the Derwent graphite sticks last week, now I know what to do with them. Here’s my Tabby from today
