Im thinking that the backline and or shading under the eye should circle back to the corner of the mouth, not under the bottom lip.
Really enjoyed using the charcoal stick on this one!
Well my trout did upload. I had fun with this one. Love using the different materials. All the classes are fun and challenging.
I’d like to share my trout but for some reason I can’t upload it. Any suggestions?
What medium did you use. That’s interesting!
Pastels! the trout! the black background really enhanced the vividness of pastels!
enjoyable art.
The gaze! intense!! and the greys!!
Superb..
Very interesting, and totally different when done in pastels !
Thank you Jaci.
Couldn’t attend live, but almost finished now. Challenging and so much fun. Thank you!
I love your trout! I’m a mixed media marine artist so this hit home for me. Thank you for sharing.
These look great!
Welcome back, Cindy! Nice work!
That’s great to hear. Nice work with this drawing!

Very nice work!
You’re welcome. Thank you for joining us!
This is great! Nice work!
Very nice! That compressed charcoal can be tricky, but I think you managed it well. Great tip!
This is great! I love the use of pastels here.
Wonderful!
Beautiful!

Here they are:
Dear Scott,
here is my trout and my old sketches. I hope it doesn’t matter.
It’s a new challenge every time, and I learn a lot from it.
Kind regards Pia
I finished this watching Jo’s paint along….I didn’t get set up for watercolor in time.
And my art buddy Bill, from CA, used watercolor and ink. Love this too! HA!
I LOVED the trout! It was so much fun to draw! I used black paper and started to just use white charcoal but couldn’t stand it and dragged out the pastels!
I LOVE him!! Nicely done!

That trout was not easy. I was drawing him upside down, and sideways to get his proportion somewhat correct. Here he is on stonehenge 11×14, using vine charcoal, compressed charcoal sticks, and charcoal pencils. I read an advise that it is better to use the compressed charcoal, in any form, at the end of drawing, because it leaves almost permanent marks, hard to get rid off.
Thank you for the class .
Here is the trout drawing.
Thank you for the class . Really enjoying the classes . My drawing is in charcoal sticks and charcoal pencils.
Wow great piece!
Love your use of value!
Here’s my trout. Thanks again Scott. Looking forward to the seascape!
I found working with the square charcoal a bit more messy. It does give a richer and better effect with it. This was my first time using the square charcoal.
Thanks Scott for all your hints and help.
Finished version…
That trout was hard! I couldn’t get the bottom fins right. I’ll keep on working on it. Graphite on white paper. Thanks, Scott!
My fish with pastel pencil, whether it is a trout…I leave that to the viewer ;). Thanks for the show, Klaas.
Can’t believe how much I enjoy all your episode’s, especially this one. Fish on my friends!
Missed a few weeks, so glad to be back.
just sharing this. Going to draw your picture of the trout now.
